Things I’ve had published are linked from various pages here (resume has them all), but not everything I write gets sent off for publishing, some because I just don’t think it’s good enough (and no, you won’t see those disasters here), other stuff because it’s something I’ve experimented with and don’t really know where to go with it or I think it’s so far outside of my target area that I don’t want to submit it. What you’ll find here is the few stories I’m actually oddly proud of.
Crime in 50 words
This short (3600 words) story is a favourite of mine. It means more than most of the others as I gave this to my daughter to celebrate her 16th birthday. She sat in the restaurant where we’d taken her and read the whole thing straight off, her eyes alight. Based on her favourite programme “Supernatural”, this is a domestic demon fighting tale.
This is a short (800) word children’s story that I wrote for a Swansea and District Writers Circle internal competition. It’s not the sort of thing I usually do, my stuff wouldn’t appeal to most kids, and that’s why it’s here not being circulated. It came third (and no, not out of three!).
